School lock downs lifted after shooting; no injuries

Several schools were locked down Tuesday morning for a little over an hour while Las Vegas police investigated reports of multiple gunshots near Owens Avenue and Lamb Boulevard.

Police responded to calls of gunfire at 10 a.m. in the 4500 block of Little Finch Lane. There were no injuries reported and no suspects were present when police arrived on scene, according to police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer.

A half hour after the initial call, a van matching the description of one at the scene crashed a few blocks away at Judson Avenue and Marion Drive and an arrest was made.

Police are still searching for a second suspect and investigating the scene.

Miller, Tate, King and Diaz elementary schools, all in close proximity to Little Finch Lane, were locked down as a precautionary measure.

Cortez elementary school was also briefly locked down, but opened before the other schools did. All schools were reopened by 12:30 p.m.
