Second man in custody for 2010 homicide

The second man charged in a 2010 gang-related homicide was extradited to Nevada on Sunday.

Damien Benoit, 27, was indicted in May for the death of Deshun Burley, who was found dead from multiple gunshots to his chest in a room at the Bargain Motel, 200 S. Eighth St., in April 2010.

Brandon Bailey, 25, who also was charged, had been dating Burley’s sister and the two had prior arguments about her, police said.

Witnesses saw the three men arguing before Benoit referenced the Piru Blood street gang before firing six shots.

Benoit and Bailey were members of Piru, a rival of Burley’s gang, the Crips, according to police.

Burley was pronounced dead at the scene.

Benoit was transported to Las Vegas from Monterey, Calif., where he was serving time on a separate charge. Bailey has been in Clark County Detention Center since the May indictment.
