Slaying suspect pleads not guilty in dancer’s death

The man accused of strangling to death and dismembering the body of "Fantasy" dancer Debora Flores Narvaez pleaded not guilty Wednesday.

Jason "Blu" Griffith, who also was a dancer in a Strip show, was indicted last week on one count of murder in the December death of the 31-year-old.

Authorities said after Griffith killed his former girlfriend he dismembered her body and hid it in cement-filled tubs in a downtown home. Griffith was arrested in January after a month-long investigation.

The case is expected to be reviewed by the district attorney's death penalty committee to determine whether prosecutors will seek capital punishment against Griffith based on aggravating factors such as the dismemberment.

Griffith, 32, is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center.

On Wednesday, District Judge Donald Mosley scheduled trial for Nov. 28.

Flores Narvaez was reported missing a day after she didn't show up for a Dec. 13 performance in the Luxor burlesque show "Fantasy." Her disappearance made national headlines, in part because her family made high-profile appeals for help in finding her.

Authorities said Flores Narvaez went to Griffith's North Las Vegas home on Dec. 12 to watch television where the two fought.

Authorities said Griffith's roommate, Louis Colombo, helped hide the body during the following weeks.

Colombo admitted his involvement in a bid for leniency. He has not been arrested or charged, but prosecutors are still reviewing the case.

Griffith and Flores Narvaez had a volatile history, including at least three incidents in which authorities responded to calls of domestic violence between the couple, including one on Oct. 22 that resulted in Griffith's arrest.
