The amount Richard Suen will attempt to collect from one-time client Las Vegas Sands Corp. has grown to $102.8 million.
Suen’s attorneys filed a request late Monday for $1.2 million to cover various fees from both retrial of his claim that ended in May and the original trial five years ago. Included in the total are out-of-pocket expenses for parking, trial technician pay, copies, and legal research. The largest category by far was the $458,000 for graphics created for the trial.
The various expenses also include interest. For example, $166 spent on jury meals on April 18, 2008, has accumulated $44.65 in interest for a total of $210.65.
On May 28, Clark County District Judge Rob Bare entered a judgment for $101.6 million, comprising the $70 million jury verdict plus $31.6 million in interest dating back to the filing of the case in October 2004. The interest tab mounts at $8,400 a day.
By next Monday, Sands attorneys expect to filed a formal request to have the jury verdict thrown out. If this does not succeed, then the company will appeal to the Nevada Supreme Court.
