Suspect in southwest jewelry store robbery arrested

Las Vegas police have identified one of the suspects involved in a Thursday jewelry store robbery in the southwest valley. Antwjan McClelland and another man entered a Huntington Jewelers Inc. at 7385 W. Sahara Ave. about 5 p.m., according to a report released Friday.

McClelland was armed with a handgun and demanded cash from an employee, police said. A second employee, who was armed, fired at McClelland, striking him several times.

McClelland was admitted to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the arm about 30 minutes after the robbery, police said.

McClelland was booked in absentia at the Clark County Detention Center on charges of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, robbery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary while in possession of a firearm and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

The unidentified man involved in the robbery remains at large. He was described as a 5-foot-9-inch, black male weighing 160 pounds. He was seen wearing a black sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and a white baseball cap.

Police believe a third suspect might be involved. Anyone with information regarding this incident should call the Metropolitan Police Department.
