Teen driver who crashed into pole Dec. 3 dies

The teen who was in critical condition after he crashed into a pole earlier this month in the east valley died Thursday, according to Las Vegas police.
Just after 1 a.m. on Dec. 3, Heber A. Valdivia Castro, 17, of Las Vegas, was driving a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse on Sahara Avenue, approaching Sloan Lane, at a high speed when he lost control and crashed into a light pole, police said.
The Clark County coroner’s office told police about 3 p.m. Thursday that Castro died at University Medical Center, according to a Metro press release.
This was the 84th traffic-related death in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
