Three men arrested in North Las Vegas bank robbery
Three men led police and U.S. authorities on a high-speed chase through valley streets Saturday afternoon, moments after they robbed a Bank of America in the 2400 block of East Centennial Parkway in North Las Vegas, the FBI said.
Two men with semi-automatic weapons busted into the bank shortly after noon, jumped counters, ordered the clerks to hand over the cash, then stuffed it into bags and fled in a reportedly stolen getaway vehicle driven by a third man, FBI spokeswoman Bridget Pappas said.
No one was injured, she said.
The suspects eventually switched to another reportedly stolen vehicle at the corner of Tropical Parkway and Statz Street to evade police officers.
They were arrested at Pecos Road and Remington Grove Avenue after they bailed from the second vehicle and tried to run away, Pappas said.
Masks, gloves, guns and an undisclosed amount of cash were confiscated at the scene, she said.
The three men, who were not immediately identified, are scheduled to appear in federal court Monday.
It was just the latest in a string of bank robberies in the Las Vegas Valley.
In early April, a man was arrested in the robbery of three banks during which clerks were ordered not to put rubber bands on the bunches of cash.
Dubbed the “No Rubber Bands Bandit” by the FBI, he was arrested and identified as Marquee Munerlyn.
A complaint filed in U.S. District Court alleges Munerlyn robbed the following banks on March 30: U.S. Bank inside the Smith’s at 830 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson; U.S. Bank inside the Von’s at 2667 Windmill Parkway in Henderson; and U.S. Bank inside the Albertson’s at 7350 S. Rainbow Blvd. in Las Vegas.
