Tour bus driver admits smoking synthetic marijuana to police

The driver of an empty tour bus involved in a chain-reaction crash Sunday that injured 12 people admitted smoking synthetic marijuana before the accident, according to Las Vegas police.

Police are investigating what role Spice, speed and rain played in the 5:30 p.m. crash involving the bus and at least five other vehicles near The Boulevard mall, at Desert Inn Road and Maryland Parkway, east of the Las Vegas Strip.

Twelve people were taken to the hospital but their injuries were “nothing substantial,” according to Las Vegas police.

The driver of the Herrera Coaches bus has not been identified.
