Vandals remove circuit breakers from Henderson recreation center

The Valley View Recreation Center in Henderson was closed for three days last week because of vandalism and theft.

According to a statement released Thursday by the city of Henderson, vandals removed 14 of 16 circuit breakers on the building’s main panel, cutting power to the facility and forcing its closure.

The circuit breakers were original components of the building, which opened in 1993. City workers installed used breakers, according to the statement, “but a complete replacement of the panel with new breakers could cost the city over $60,000.”

Valley View Recreation Center, 500 Harris St., was Henderson’s first full-service recreation center.

Anyone who noticed suspicious activity at the facility on the night of Aug. 25 or in the early hours of Aug. 26 may report it to Henderson police by calling 702-267-4750.

To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
