Woman arrested in slaying of boyfriend

Las Vegas police arrested a woman in connection with the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend Tuesday morning near Paradise and Desert Inn roads.

Police were called to a home at 7:19 a.m. in the 3700 block of Hazelwood Street where they found a 25-year-old man with a stab wound. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he died. His identity was not released.

Homicide Lt. Ray Steiber said police have arrested 29-year-old Chamel Smith on the recommended charge of murder with a deadly weapon.

Steiber said the incident was domestic-related, although it was initially investigated as a possible home invasion.
