Woman shoots, kills herself in front of Las Vegas police
A woman fatally shot herself Tuesday morning after being confronted by police, an official with the Metropolitan Police Department said.
The woman was identified by the Clark County coroner's office as 27-year-old Samantha Rae Haefer.
Sgt. John Sheahan said at 8:19 a.m. police were called to the Snug Harbor Apartments, 2780 E. Flamingo Road, near Eastern Ave., because a woman with a gun was in the courtyard saying she wanted police to shoot her, witnesses told police.
When police got to the complex, the woman had gone into an apartment and was out on a balcony. That's when she fatally shot herself once, Sheahan said.
He said officers never fired at the woman.
