Woman struck, killed in northwest valley

An 86-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning, Las Vegas police said.
The identity of the deceased woman was not released.
Police said at 10:52 a.m. the woman was crossing Lake Mead Boulevard, near Rampart Boulevard, from the south side to the north side. She wasn't in a marked crosswalk. Jon Williams, 59, from Las Vegas, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet HHR when he struck the woman.
She died at University Medical Center.
The case, the eighth traffic-related fatality in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2013, is under investigation.
