Las Vegas police investigating woman’s death in southeastern valley

Las Vegas police are investigating a woman’s death at an extended-stay hotel in the southeast valley.

Shortly after 9:40 a.m. Friday, Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to The Suites at 4855 Boulder Highway for reports of a body inside an apartment unit, police said. Someone at the hotel had been checking on the unit when the woman’s body was found.

Police said the coroner’s office has taken over the investigation to determine if the death is suspicious.

While it’s unclear how the woman died, the hotel has had problems with violent crime. In April 2016, a man on a bicycle was fatally shot at the property, and in October of last year, a man was shot dead while inside of a car.

In August of last year, a 19-year-old woman was found dead inside one of the units, but as of December, the coroner’s office was unable to determine her cause of death.

No other information was available Friday.
