Man hits 2 with pole near downtown Las Vegas

A man hit two people with a pole before fleeing the scene Friday evening north of downtown Las Vegas.
Las Vegas police responded about 5:25 p.m. to the area of G Street and McWilliams Avenue, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Brian Cole said. Officers found a man and a woman — both with head injuries — outside near the intersection.
They were taken to University Medical Center. The man is in critical condition, and the woman is expected to survive.
“Her injuries are not as severe as his,” Cole said.
He said the assailant left before police arrived.
