A man is in custody after a Thursday morning barricade incident near downtown Las Vegas, police said.
Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Jacinto Rivera said the man who barricaded himself in a home on the 1800 block of Ardmore Avenue, near South Eastern and East St. Louis avenues, threatened another man with a gun Wednesday afternoon.
The barricade began about 5 a.m., Rivera said, and the scene was cleared about 8 a.m. when SWAT negotiators persuaded the man to leave the home. He was taken into custody without incident.
Rivera said the barricaded man may have been a relative or close friend of the man shot and killed Tuesday just a few blocks away, and believed the person he allegedly threatened was the shooter.
The man killed was 23-year-old Adan Gavilanes of Las Vegas, the Clark County coroner’s office said Thursday.
Police said Tuesday’s shooting may have been gang-related, but they have not named any suspects or made any arrests.
