Northern Nevada inmate who walked away Tuesday recaptured
The inmate who walked away from a Reno work crew on Tuesday was recaptured Friday, prison officials said.
Zachary Tankersley, 20, was serving 12 to 36 months for burglary out of Washoe County when he disappeared, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.
He was a minimum-security inmate, and on Tuesday afternoon he was removing weeds with the Nevada Department of Forestry before he walked away, officials said.
With help from the U.S. Marshals Service, the corrections department was able to locate Tankersley in Nevada on Friday and take him back into custody.
He will be taken to the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City, officials said.
