Teenage girl shot in northwest valley apartment complex
A teenage girl was shot in a northwest valley apartment complex Tuesday night.
Officers and medics responded about 9 p.m. to the 2217 James Bilbray Drive complex — just north of the Best In The West shopping center — after her parents called police, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. David Gordon said.
The girl was shot once in the stomach somewhere in the complex, and after she was wounded, she made her way back to her family’s apartment where her parents called 911.
She was taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit, and as of 1:30 a.m. Wednesday she was on the mend; her gunshot wound was nonlife-threatening, Gordon said.
It’s unclear what led to the shooting. As of early Wednesday, police had not released the shooter’s description.
