Carolyn L. Ahern will sign and discuss "Tino Turtle Travels to Paris, France," performer Ryan Ahern will do a live reading presentation of the book and the Tino Turtle mascot will visit at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at B Dalton Booksellers at the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road, Henderson.

PA Leap Year Party for ages 12 to 18 will be at 3 p.m. today at James I Gibson Library, 280 S. Water St., Henderson.

Mornings with Mari Book Club meets at 10 a.m. the third Saturday of each month; the Best Book You've Never Read book group meets the second Sunday of the month at 7 p.m.; Our Desert Hearts book group meets at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of the month at Barnes and Noble, 8915 W. Charleston Blvd.

The Science Fiction & Fantasy Club (SNAFFU) meets at 2 p.m. the fourth Sunday of each month at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

The Brown Bag Book Club meets at 11 a.m. on the second Thursday of the month at the Laughlin Library, 2840 S. Needles Highway.

The Fantasy Book Discussion Group meets at 7 p.m. the second Monday of the month; and the Breakfast Book Club meets at 11 a.m. the third Friday of the month at Sunrise Library, 5400 Harris Ave.

The Great Books Reading & Discussion Group meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. At the next meeting, the group will be discussing "Fat" by Raymond Carver; the Contemporary Fiction Book Discussion Group meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of each month; and the Mahogany Circle Book Club meets at 11 a.m. the first Saturday of the month to discuss books written by black authors at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

The Green Valley Library Book Club meets at 1 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of the month at 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.

The Sahara West Book Discussion Group meets at 7 p.m. the last Thursday of each month, and the Murder in the Library club meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month at Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave.

The monthly Poet's Corner is the third Friday of the month at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd.

Storytime in the Square is offered at 1 p.m. Wednesdays in Children's Park at Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Several valley bookstores offer story times and special events for children:

Story time with music and crafts is offered Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and the first Saturday of the month at Barnes and Noble, 567 N. Stephanie St., Henderson.

Individual libraries within the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District offer a variety of story times and special events for children of all ages throughout the year. Most libraries require registration for their programs. Call the libraries for details.
