DJ Steve Aoki shows up ‘ASAP’ after Miami-Vegas flight canceled

Star DJs are constantly flying from city to city, more than all other musicians, logging more in-flight hours than airline workers are allowed to fly by law.

Look at Steve Aoki. On Saturday, the corporate Hakkasan DJ was scheduled to star on stage in Miami, hop on a plane to Vegas, then headline at Jewel nightclub in the Aria hotel.

But something was amiss. Aoki, one of the most professional superstar DJs in Vegas (and maybe the most sober and health-conscious), wasn’t at Jewel at showtime.

Fans started tweeting crying face emojis and “where you at bruh?” Because nothing ruins a celebrity like upset fans (as evidenced by a huge backlash against Justin Bieberon Sunday after he threatened to leave Instagram if fans keep hating on his model girlfriend).

But Aoki finally popped up on Twitter to explain:

“My flight from miami to vegas got canceled,” he wrote, and he had to book a private Hawker plane at the last minute to get here.

“Better late than never See u Asap,” he tweeted.

So it’s not just regular Delta passengers who have been struggling with flights lately. Celebrities also deal with airline woes that can result in very pricey job losses.

LIKE ‘JERSEY SHORE’ BUT NOT

Spanish-language MTV star Karime has been running around Las Vegas for the past few days, video-ing a Vegas vacation for one of her shows.

She saw Britney Spears perform from front seats, and she drank on the High Roller pod, all while filming “Hagas Lo Que Hagas” (“Do What You Do”).

In a YouTube video, you can see Karime, of Spanish-language MTV’s “Acapulco Shore” and “Super Shore,” walk the Strip in a bikini top counting how many passersby gawk at her. (A lot.)

Her MTV shows are not unlike “Jersey Shore” in various ways.

Such are the new stars coming to Vegas.

GENERATION GAP BATTLE

Derek Fisher, the newly fired New York Knicks head coach, showed up at Tao nightclub on Saturday, drinking and hanging with DJ Eric D-Lux.

The day before that, Knicks President Phil Jackson explained why Fisher was fired during an interview with TodaysFastBreak.com.

Jackson said Fisher had trouble due to divorce; moving from the West Coast to the East Coast with kids; and, oh right, “the constant losing.”

But Jackson also blamed Fisher for paying too much attention to millennial athletes by talking with them about their diets, sleep routines and practice.

“He was training individuals, which was really in tune with the so-called millennials, young people and young players who are primarily interested in themselves,” Jackson said.

Millennials in the NBA are more concerned with what a team can do for them than the other way around, Jackson said, mocking millennials with this impression:

“Can playing in New York or Boston or L.A. or wherever add 10k followers to my Twitter account? Will the local media get me lucrative endorsements? What do I have to concentrate on to get a better contract?”

You have to wonder if this generation gap battle is going to play out in Las Vegas once the NHL team (and possibly an NFL, MLB and NHL teams) set up shop here.
