Denzel Washington stars in ‘Book of Eli’

Movie: "The Book of Eli"

When: Opening Friday at local theaters

Cast: Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Michael Gambon

Directors: Albert and Allen Hughes

The story: In post-apocalypse America, a loner fights his way across country to protect a sacred book that may hold the key to saving humanity.

The buzz: Are you ready for another after-the-apocalypse workout? Filmmaking twins Albert and Allen Hughes ("Menace II Society," "Dead Presidents") hope you are, because this is their first big-screen foray since their 2001 Jack the Ripper thriller "From Hell." (They also executive produced the U.S. version of the British TV crime drama "Touching Evil.") Washington handles all the movie's hand-to-hand combat sequences himself -- after martial-arts training with Bruce Lee protege Dan Inosanto.
