THE GRAPE
Town Square, 6599 Las Vegas Blvd. South; 220-4727
Two things surprised us about The Grape: That the wine list wasn't more broad, and that the food was so good. We thoroughly enjoyed our glasses of 2007 Two Hands Gnarly Dudes Barossa Valley shiraz, however, as well as a classic Caesar salad; cambozola, prosciutto and fig flatbread; baked brie in pastry; and a tenderloin steak sandwich. GRITZ
1911 Stella Lake Drive; 255-4748
This tiny spot is very much in the no-frills category but that just seems to fit with its simple theme, which is grits, grits and more grits. We liked the signature grits bowl with egg and cheese and an oh-so-fluffy biscuit, the Alabama among the "state plates," which features thick-sliced bacon along with eggs and biscuits and grits, and a spirited and satisfying chicken gumbo soup of the day, although the peach cobbler was only OK. YOLIE'S
3900 Paradise Road; 794-0700
Service was too slow at Yolie's -- yes, this was during NFR, but after all these years they must know that cowboys like beef -- but beyond that, this pioneer of Las Vegas churrascarias retains a lot of appeal. We did partake in the rodizio of seven different cuts of meat, brought to the table in turn, but also had some shrimp scampi and a nicely executed Feijoada, the black-bean chili-like dish with sausages, ham hocks and spare ribs.
