Many roads lead to Danish pastries

Sara Fraga is looking for a source for old-fashioned Danish pastries such as bear claws, raisin snails and nut-filled coffeecakes, and readers say local bakers are up to the task.

Andy Wieckenberg recommended the German Bread Bakery at 2237 N. Rampart Blvd., whose office manager, Tina Walker, emailed to confirm that the bakery's products are handmade by German bakers. Marie Maleske recommended the pastries made by an actual Danish baker at Chef Flemming's Bake Shop at 7 Water St. in Henderson. And Jim Guynup recommended the bear claws at Atlanta Bread Co. at 9785 W. Charleston Blvd. and Al's Donuts at 1220 E. Harmon Ave. ...
