Reader has lead on source of rhubarb

Frozen rhubarb is one of the most frequent requests I get for Taste of the Town, in large part because it's so elusive in Las Vegas. I usually advise buying it fresh when you see it in the supermarket produce department, then cleaning, dicing and freezing until you need it. But Diane Coleman reported finding it - one bag - at Smith's at 830 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson. She said the manager promised to get more, and added, "I'll hold him to it." ...

For Tom Conroy, who's looking for an Empire kosher turkey, Ida McCord and Valerie Weinberg suggested Vons at 2667 Windmill Parkway in Henderson, and Weinberg said she gets them at Albertsons at 2910 Bicentennial Parkway in Henderson. ...

For Valerie Mulford, who's looking for B&M Original Brick Oven Baked Beans, Alan Van Ees reported finding them at Wal-Mart Supercenter at 2310 E. Serene Ave. ...

For Patricia Annable, who's looking for B&M Brown Bread in a can, Colleen Sams found it at Albertsons at 2650 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson, and Julie Tutor found it at www.Vermont CountryStore.com (800-564-4623). ...

For Don Baynes, Deborah Brezney and Mary Lou Villalovos said Senate Bean Soup also can be found at Vermont Country Store. ...

For Marlene Ferris, Weinberg emailed that a whole smoked whitefish, reasonably priced, can be found at Costco. ...

More on short ribs: Mary Anne Taglia recommended the short ribs with cippolini onions at Craftsteak at MGM Grand, 3799 Las Vegas Blvd. South; Michelle Knoll recommended the short ribs with Dr. Pepper barbecue sauce served at Gilly's at Treasure Island, 3300 Las Vegas Blvd. South; and Catherine Pawelek, co-owner of Elements Kitchen & Martini Bar, 4950 S. Rainbow Blvd., said they serve them, braised with Kona espresso and Kahlua, as an appetizer. ...

More on lobster bisque: Villalovos recommended the Silverado Steak House at South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South, and she and Brezney said it also can be found at Vermont Country Store. ...
