Readers offer bit of advice on classic candy

Just in time for one of the biggest candy days of the year, readers are telling Kent Cannon where he can find Bit-O-Honey bars -- and they've clearly been doing a lot of hunting for a favorite.

Kimmie Carey and William Isaac said full-size bars are available ("sporadically," Isaac said) at Cost Plus World Market at 3890 Blue Diamond Road (there's another Cost Plus at 2151 N. Rainbow Blvd.) and mini-size bars at Bass Pro Shops, 8200 Dean Martin Drive; Ruth Jagodzinski said pieces can be found at Sunflower Farmer's Market, 3365 E. Tropicana Ave. and 4020 S. Rainbow Blvd., at Death Valley Candy Co. in Beatty and at www.VermontCountryStore.com (802-776-5730).

Also, Sheila McMahon found Bit-O-Honey pieces at Dollar Tree at 324 S. Decatur Blvd.; Anita Miscimarra found them at Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft Stores and at Big Lots at 8570 W. Lake Mead Blvd.; Barbara Morris recommended www.CandyCrate.com (800-849-0772); and Ken Finch of www.PartyExpressOutlet. com (205-358-7570) emailed that he carries it as well. ...

For Lee Williamson, Jim Hodge emailed that Breckenridge Brewing's Vanilla Porter generally can be found at Total Wine, which is at 501 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson and 730 S. Rampart Blvd., and at Lee's Discount Liquors, which has numerous locations. ...

For Bob Bursey, who's looking for mild and hot Hatch Red Enchilada Sauce, Candace Marlow emailed that she found it at Smith's. ...

For Phil Palma, who's looking for Maui Sweet Onions, Virginia Husbands recommended the Hawaiian Sweet Onions at Trader Joe's. ...

More on liver: Dorothy A. Dawson recommended the Decatur Drug Restaurant inside Decatur Drug, 542 S. Decatur Blvd., and Isaac recommended Anthem View Restaurant at 2450 Hampton Road in Henderson, where he said it comes with both bacon and onions. ...

More on sheepherder's bread: Suzanne Atfield recommended the Entenmann/Oroweat Bakery Outlets at 2548 Wigwam Parkway in Henderson and 5191 W. Charleston Blvd. ...

Here are more reader requests.
