Readers track down chili beans

For Ashok Yadev, who's looking for canned chili beans - not to be confused with chili with beans - readers say the key words are "Bush's" and "Great Value."

Paula Zimmer, Jim Lucey and Colleen Sams emailed that the Bush's brand (in mild or spicy, Zimmer said) can be found at supermarkets including Smith's, Wal-Mart and Albertsons.

And Lindsay Dowrick of Kingman, Ariz., and Angie Hurt emailed that the Great Value brand is available at Wal-Mart; Hurt said she gets them for her 93-year-old father, who first told her of their availability. ...

For Sandy Mindiola, Dowrick reported finding Carnation Malted Milk powder at Wal-Mart in Kingman, Sams found it at Albertsons at 2650 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson and Barbara Delaterre found malted-milk powder at www.Nowfoods.com. ...

For Kris Kantebet, who's looking for kosher dills similar to those served in old-school delis, which are light green with flesh that's almost white, Valerie Weinberg emailed that in some places they're known as "new" dills but in Las Vegas they're "half-sours" and available at the Bagel Cafe at 301 N. Buffalo Drive and at Weiss Restaurant Deli and Bakery at 2744 N. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson. Joyce Gargan also recommended Weiss. ...

For William Steffen, who's looking for cans of whole button mushrooms packed in water, Deena Pinto emailed that the Four Seasons brand is available at Smart & Final. ...
