Sweet news for halvah lovers

I’ve always considered halvah an acquired taste. My father loved the stuff, but … well, maybe the problem is I never tried dark-chocolate-covered halvah, being sought by reader Marty Gonska.

Walt Yellen found it at Vons at 1031 Nevada Highway in Boulder City (in the same aisle as the prepackaged deli meats) and Linda Levine found it in Henderson at Albertsons at 2910 Bicentennial Parkway and at Weiss Deli, 2744 N. Green Valley Parkway. …

For Roy Cameron, who’s looking for Old El Paso Salsa, Ken Wolt spotted it at Smith’s at 10600 Southern Highlands Parkway, and Robert A. Lindley said it’s available at the commissary at Nellis Air Force Base, for those with commissary privileges. …

For Clyde Cummings, Ron Lutz of The Butcher Block, 7625 S. Rainbow Blvd., emailed that he carries Morton’s Tender Quick. …

For Mary Ann Satory, who’s looking for Milnot, Alice Collette said she gets it at Glazier’s Food Marketplace, 8525 W. Warm Springs Road. …

For J.F. Abbott, who’s looking for Campbell’s Manhattan Clam Chowder, Chris Yeaton emailed that it’s available at 99 Ranch Market at 4155 Spring Mountain Road, and Karen Langbert found it at Glazier’s. …

For Joyce O’Meara, Helen Schussler of The Tovah Team emailed that ready-made blinis are available at www.TovahCaviar.com. …

More on Lebanon bologna and Polish sausage: The Jensens at Village Meat & Wine, 5025 S. Eastern Ave., emailed that they carry the former and have been making the latter for 34 years. …

Here are more reader requests.

Vegas Golden Knights Christmas Display
In the Las Vegas Valley, the chances of getting a white Christmas are slim. But this year, you can have a “Knight” Christmas. A Henderson resident has a Christmas lights display that is synchronized to the entrance music for the Golden Knights. GG Misa’s Knights light show is played every 30 minutes from 5 to 10 nightly. His light show consists of two songs: Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and the entrance music, “Le Castle Vania,” from the movie “John Wick.” The display is located at 730 Bollons Island St. (Richard Brian/Las Vegas Reivew-Journal)
