They’ll take Manhattan (clam chowder, that is)

Clam chowder is clam chowder is clam chowder? Not if you’re a fan of one type or another — but not both — and prefer either the creamy-white New England style or tomato-y-red Manhattan. It’s the latter that Shirley Bruss is seeking, and her fellow Taste of the Town readers have several suggestions for her.

Karen Langbert, Jan Visser and Ann Brown recommended the Big Sur Oyster Bar at the South Point at 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Al Wirtzbaum recommended Big Al’s Oyster Bar at The Orleans at 4500 W. Tropicana Ave., Kris Garry suggested the Oyster Bar at Texas Station at 2101 Texas Star Lane in North Las Vegas, Sandra Ross suggested the Tides Restaurant at Green Valley Ranch Resort at 2300 Paseo Verde Parkway in Henderson and Mary Lou Villalovos said it’s available on Fridays at the Feast Buffet at Sunset Station at 1301 W. Sunset Road in Henderson and the Coronado Cafe at the South Point. …

For Russ Russell, Valerie Weinberg emailed that barbecued beef ribs are available at Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Q, which has locations in The District at Green Valley Ranch at 2245 Village Walk Drive in Henderson and at Red Rock Resort at 11011 W. Charleston Blvd., as well as at Claim Jumper, which has four valley locations, including a new one at the Golden Nugget at 129 Fremont St. …

For Dianne Tracy, who’s looking for “fabulous fish and chips on the northwest side of town,” Artie Zambarano emailed to say Farm 24/7 restaurant at the Aliante at 7300 N. Aliante Parkway in North Las Vegas “has the best fish and chips I’ve had since moving here from New England.” And Norene Turpyn recommended J.C. Wooloughan’s at the JW Marriott at 221 N. Rampart Blvd. …

And Rich Kohut, who emailed his search for grape-flavored jelly doughnuts, reported that he found they can be requested from “Jan the bakery manager” at Albertsons at 7271 S. Eastern Ave., adding that she would make “any other stuffed doughnut for you,” including peanut butter and jelly, which, Kohut added, “must be a West Coast thing.” …

More on corned beef and cabbage: Turpyn recommended J.C. Wooloughan’s.
