2014 Mother’s Day Dining Events and Menus

COOKING CLASS AT BORDER GRILL

Border Grill chefs/owners Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger plan to offer a two-hour demonstration-style cooking class in honor of Mother’s Day from 10 a.m. to noon May 10 at Border Grill in Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Brunch favorites from the restaurant’s menu will be featured, along with signature cocktails. Attendees will receive a recipe booklet.

MOM’S ROCK MOTHER’S DAY TEA AT JW MARRIOTT

The 10th anniversary Mom’s Rock Mother’s Day Tea & Brunch is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 10 on the east lawn of the JW Marriott, 221 N. Rampart Blvd. The event will benefit Child Focus of St. Jude’s Ranch for Children.

The “not so” traditional tea and brunch event will offer entertainment and children’s activities. Tickets are $100 for adults and $50 for children. Tables and sponsorships are available.

M RESORT

Studio B Buffet at the M Resort, 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to offer Mother’s Day specialties from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 3 to 8 p.m. May 11. Items are set to include Australian rack of lamb, bamboo mahi mahi, slow-roasted prime rib, crab legs, oysters on the half shell, shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque and clam chowder. Beer, wine and cordials will be complimentary. The cost is $49.99 for adults and $26.99 for children.

Baby Cakes plans to offer bonbons for $15 for six in a variety of flavors, including hot dark chocolate, peanut butter banana, lemon bar and peanut butter and jelly.

GOSPEL BRUNCH AT HOUSE OF BLUES

The House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to host Mother’s Day-themed Kirk Franklin’s Gospel Brunch May 11. Each mother and grandmother will receive flowers and hear special songs dedicated to them.

Along with gospel music, the all-you-can-eat brunches feature Southern specialties such as cornbread muffins and maple butter, Creole chicken, shrimp jambalaya, chicken and waffles, carving stations and create-your-own Bloody Mary and mimosa bars.

Pasta Pirate at the California Hotel, 12 E. Ogden Ave., plans to offer seafood cannelloni for $22, while Redwood Grill plans to offer lobster tempura for $40. Both restaurants will be open from 5:30 to 10 p.m. May 11.

MAIN STREET STATION

Triple 7 at Main Street Station, 200 N. Main St., plans to offer pan-seared sirloin for $14.99 from 11 a.m. to close May 11.

JOKERS WILD AND ELDORADO CASINOS

Jokers Wild Casino, 920 N. Boulder Highway, plans to offer a Mother’s Day special in the Court Cafe of petite filet and shrimp scampi over angel hair pasta with soup or salad for $12.99. The special will be available from 11 a.m. to close May 11.

The Eldorado Casino, 140 S. Water St. in Henderson, plans to offer the same Mother’s Day special in Mary’s Diner from 11 a.m. to close May 11.

STRATOSPHERE

The Top of the World Restaurant at the Stratosphere, 2000 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to serve a special brunch menu for Mother’s Day from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 11. Options are sun-dried blueberry pancakes with lemon mascarpone, chicken apple sausage, fresh mixed berries and maple syrup for $25; quiche with leek, roasted tomato, bacon and four cheeses served with baby kale salad and spiced vinaigrette for $26; and petite filet Oscar with crab and demi-glace bearnaise sauce, roasted asparagus and potato cake for $39.

Dinner is planned from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and will feature Alaskan halibut with spring succotash and a medley of corn, fava beans, tear drop tomatoes and English peas with citrus parsley butter for $48.

McCall’s Heartland Grill plans to serve lobster thermidor and petite filet of beef with sauce Americaine, asparagus and three-cheese potato gratin for $47 from 3 to 11 p.m May 11.

STK in the Cosmopolitan, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to host a four-course Mother’s Day prix fixe dinner for $99 May 11. The entree will be choice of a 7-ounce filet mignon medallion or roasted Dover sole, and the menu will be paired with a specialty cocktail, Not Your Momma’s Cobbler, for $18.

Jerry’s Famous Coffee Shop at Jerry’s Nugget, 1821 Las Vegas Blvd. North, plans to serve special Mother’s Day menu items from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. May 11. Stuffed shrimp will be $9.89, steak Diane will be $17.89, halibut filet will be $19.89 and chicken Oscar will be $18.89.

Uncle Angelo’s Pizza Joint also plans a special menu from noon to 9 p.m. Lemon salmon will be $14, heart-shaped lobster ravioli will be $18, chicken Florentine will be $10 and tiramisu will be $5.

TROPICANA

The Tropicana, 3801 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to offer a Mother’s Day brunch in the Beach Cafe for $29.99 for adults and $10.99 for children 10 or younger.

VIA BRASIL STEAKHOUSE

The Via Brasil Steakhouse, 1225 S. Fort Apache Road, plans to serve a three-course Mother’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 11 featuring more than 50 items, eight meats, homemade breads, made-to-order omelets, waffles and dessert. The cost is $34.99.

A full rodizio menu is planned from 2 to 9 p.m. for $48.99 for adults, $24.99 for children 7 to 12, $4.99 for children 5 and 6 and free for children 4 or younger.

ARIZONA CHARLIE’S

Arizona Charlie’s Boulder, 4575 Boulder Highway, plans to serve a prix fixe menu for Mother’s Day in the Yukon Grille from 3 to 9 p.m. May 11. Entree choices are shrimp and scallop bruschetta or stuffed chicken breast with soup or salad, side and vegetable and dessert. The Sourdough Cafe plans a seafood special for Mother’s Day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 11. The entree will be grilled salmon and shrimp. The cost is $12.99 with a card and $14.43 without a card.

The Wild West Buffet plans to serve a champagne brunch with omelets, eggs and waffles prepared to order from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11. Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, 740 S. Decatur Blvd., plans to serve a Mother’s Day special in Ron’s Steakhouse from 3 to 8 p.m. May 11. Entree choices are 6-ounce petite filet and seared scallops for $42 with a card and $46.66 without a card or orange roughy in citrus sauce for $32 with a card and $35.55 without a card. The Sourdough Cafe plans to serve a three-course menu from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 11. A half-pound New York steak with three fried shrimp will be $12.99 with a card and $14.44 without a card, or have it with snow crab instead for $17.99 or $19.99. Entrees include cheesy mashed potatoes and asparagus, soup or salad and dessert.

The Frisco Market Buffet plans to serve special Mother’s Day menu items, including prime rib, roast turkey and ham, salmon and potatoes au gratin, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. The cost is $11.99 for red, green and orange members, $14.39 for blue and $15.99 without a card.

SPRINGS PRESERVE

The Divine Cafe at the Springs Preserve, 333 S. Valley View Blvd., plans to host a Mother’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 11. Turkey and pork carving stations are planned, along with omelet stations, fried chicken and waffles, salads, pasta and desserts. Baja Miguel’s at the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to serve a three-course menu for Mother’s Day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 11 for $19.95 It includes a house margarita and entree choices of fillete Lindo Mexico (filet mignon topped with mushrooms) or salmon Puerto Vallarta.

The Coronado Cafe plans a three-course menu from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 11 for $14.95. Entree choices are chicken Oscar or filet of salmon.

Don Vito’s plans a four-course menu from 4 to 9 p.m. May 11 for $39. It includes a glass of wine and entree choices of pork loin or panko-crusted chicken breast.

Primarily Prime Rib plans a three-course menu from 2 to 9 p.m. May 11 for $29. It includes a cocktail of choice and entree choices of pan-seared chicken breast, prime rib, pork medallions or surf and turf (shrimp and filet steak).

The Silverado Steak House plans a four-course menu from 4 to 10 p.m. for $55. It includes a glass of wine and entree choices of tilapia piccata, veal Oscar, Twin Treasures (chicken and shrimp), filet medallion or prime rib au jus.

The Garden Buffet plans specialty brunch items from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 11 with bottomless mimosas. Carving stations will feature leg of lamb, prime rib and rotisserie chicken. A dinner buffet is planned from 4 to 9 p.m. The cost is $16.95 with a Casino Club Card or $19.95 without a card.

GOLDEN GATE

Du-Par’s Restaurant inside the Golden Gate, 1 Fremont St., plans to offer a Mother’s Day special of soup or salad, entree choices of halibut almondine or braised short ribs and dessert for $19.95 on May 11.

THE D LAS VEGAS

The D Grill in the D Las Vegas, 301 Fremont St., plans to offer special items for Mother’s Day, May 11. Entree choices will be rosemary-roasted pork loin ($11.19), The Chop Chop Salad ($8.79), grilled salmon with lemon beurre blanc ($13.59) and angel hair pomodoro pasta ($9.59). Entrees come with baked onion soup, chicken noodle soup or soup du jour.

HASH HOUSE A GO GO

Hash House A Go Go plans to serve Mother’s Day specials May 11, including Margie’s Famous Crab Cake Benedict, Stella’s Favorite Strawberry Frosted Flake Pancake and Sally’s Wild Child Sausage Waffle.

Ceres plans a Mother’s Day brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11 for $52 for adults and $24 for children.

The Rampart Buffet plans Mother’s Day specials from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. May 11 for $16.99 with a Resort Rewards Club card and $18.99 without a card.

FERRARO’S ITALIAN RESTAURANT AND WINE BAR

Country Club —A New American Steakhouse plans a Mother’s Day Jazz Brunch for $65 for adults, with the option to add unlimited champagne for $25. The cost is $27 for children 5 to 12. Brunch is set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
