GREAT VEGAS FESTIVAL OF BEER SET FOR APRIL 11

Motley Brews plans to host its fifth annual Great Vegas Festival of Beer from 3 to 7 p.m. April 11 in downtown Las Vegas near the Fremont East Entertainment District.

This year, more beer and expanded culinary options are planned, as well as live music and enhanced programming with revamped BrewLogic educational sessions.

D GRILL TO OFFER SPECIAL HAWAIIAN ITEMS

In honor of Hawaii Appreciation Week Jan. 10-17, the D Grill at the D Las Vegas, 301 Fremont St., plans to offer island favorites such as Portuguese sausage or Spam, eggs and aice and saimin, as well as classic plate lunches such as beef teriyaki, chicken katsu, Korean chicken and chopped steak, served with a side of macaroni salad and rice.

HOUSE OF BLUES FOUNDATION ROOM TO HOST CHARITY HAPPY HOURS

The House of Blues at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South, plans to continue the Happy Anniversary Hour to benefit local charities in the Foundation Room during January and February. The event features 22 charitable events to celebrate 22 years of the House of Blues. Events are set from 5 to 8 p.m. for guests 21 or older. A portion of proceeds benefit the corresponding charity. ANNUAL LUTEFISK DINNER SET FOR JAN. 31 IN BOULDER CITY

The 17th annual Lutefisk Dinner hosted by Vegas Viking Lodge of the Sons of Norway is scheduled for 3 and 6 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Boulder City Elks Lodge, 1217 Nevada Highway in Boulder City.

Besides lutefisk (with melted butter or white sauce), the dinner will include roasted pork, boiled potatoes, peas and carrots, lefse, coffee and iced tea and Norwegian cookies (Aquavit also will be available, as will packages of lefse).

Tickets must be purchased in advance by Jan. 22 and are $20 for adults and $5 for children 10 or younger. WINE AND BEER TASTING TO BENEFIT VEGAS PBS

Southern Nevada Public Television plans to host its 26th annual Splendor in the Glass Wine & Beer Tasting event from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 7 in the ballroom at the Westgate, 5625 W. Flamingo Road. Guests can sample wines and beers from 60 wineries and breweries courtesy of Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada and enjoy hot and cold hors d’oeuvres. A live wine auction and silent auction are planned, along with entertainment by the Woody Woods Jazz Combo. Chef Hubert Keller also plans to present a cooking demonstration.

Guests must be 21 or older. Advance tickets are $85, and day-of-event tickets are $100. Proceeds will benefit programming and community outreach initiatives for Vegas PBS.

BELLAGIO ANNOUNCES CULINARY CLASSROOM LINEUP

Bellagio executive chef Edmund Wong plans to host the Executive Chef’s Culinary Classroom, a series of interactive, two-hour cooking classes, Feb. 12-Nov. 10. Wong and his culinary team will share ideas and techniques as they guide guests through the steps to creating a three-course meal. Classes will be held in the resort’s demonstration kitchen, Tuscany Kitchen.

The classes are set to begin at 7 p.m. Feb. 12 with Italian by the Lake. The rest of the schedule is: Dim Sum and Noodles, March 19; Tequila and Tacos, April 30; Healthy Gourmet, May 26; Backyard Patio Grilling, June 30; Learning to Roll … Sushi and Rolls, July 23; Back to School, Aug. 27; Cupcakes & Cocktails, Sept. 29; Octoberfest, Oct. 13; and Harvesting Thanksgiving 2.0, Nov. 10.

SHAKE SHACK OPENS IN NEW YORK-NEW YORK

Shake Shack opened its first West Coast location Dec. 29 at New York-New York, 3790 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The restaurant is known for Angus beef burgers, griddled-crisp flat-top dogs and fresh-made frozen custard.

An outdoor patio overlooks at the Strip, and the Las Vegas menu features exclusive items including special frozen custard concretes All Shook Up (vanilla custard, chocolate toffee bits and banana peanut butter cheesecake) and Jackpot (vanilla custard, Belgian waffles, strawberry puree, marshmallow sauce and rainbow sprinkles).

VEGAS UNCORK’D EVENTS COMING IN APRIL

The ninth Vegas Uncork’d by Bon Appetit is scheduled for April 23-26 to at Aria, the Bellagio, Caesars Palace and the MGM Grand. Headliner chefs are set to include Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Gordon Ramsay, Julian Serrano, Francois Payard, Masa Takayama, Michael Mina and Guy Savoy. More chefs and events are set to be announced in the coming weeks, along with details about the Master Series Dinner program, which will cover multiple properties during the event weekend.
