Dining Pick of Week: Taco Y Taco

Taco Y Taco

9470 S. Eastern Ave., 702-331-3015

Stepping up to the window of Taco Y Taco, it’s almost reminiscent of a street taco vendor in Mexico. Al pastor hangs from the rotisserie, in which the chef carves the seasoned pork dish directly in front of people and puts it straight on the grill as it’s ordered. Chicken and beef sizzle and are chopped and served as people request them. If it is just for a taco or two, people have a variety of options with chicken, chorizo, barbacoa and carnitas, all served on corn tortillas and starting at $2.25. Each one is loaded with meat, cilantro, onions and salsa. People can also get it vampiro style for $3.55, which has the same ingredients stuffed between two tortillas with melted cheese. But it’s not just simple tacos. Also on the menu are burritos starting at $6.95 and mole fries, a mound of sweet or regular potatoes covered with cheese, meat, pico de gallo and a mole sauce for $7.25. Vegetarian and fish options are also available. Need more salsa, or perhaps a radish or two to complement the meal? There is a salsa bar that allows people to add to meals. Taco Y Taco also has a bar area for drinks. Prices range from $2 to $10. Taco Y Taco is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
