Prepare to impress guests with elegant pappardelle

I love pappardelle. The broad, silken ribbons of pasta to which some sauces seem to cling so beautifully are a personal favorite. I make it from scratch or buy dried pappardelle from Trader Joe’s, but when Pat Roberts emailed that she was searching for it, I wondered what sources her fellow Taste of the Town readers would come up with.

Laura Crowton, Pat Ilic and Jean Sider also get it at Trader Joe’s — where, Sider pointed out, the 8-ounce packages are available in lemon-pepper as well as plain. Ann Brown emailed that it’s available at Glazier’s Food Marketplace at 8525 W. Warm Springs Road and Siena Deli at 9500 W. Sahara Ave. And Ken Anderson emailed that fresh pappardelle is available at Parma at 7591 W. Washington Ave. …

Also for Roberts, Brown found linguica Portuguese sausage at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 5200 S. Fort Apache Road. …

For Barbara Mader, Patricia Potter and Roberta Shulman emailed that fresh organic chicken livers are available at Whole Foods Market, which has four stores in the valley. …

For Mark Cole, who’s looking for Beaver brand tartar sauce, Lynne Morchy emailed that it’s available at Smith’s at 55 S. Valle Verde Drive in Henderson, and Kara Hierro of Glazier’s said they carry it as well. …

For Ellen Garland, who’s looking for Cape Cod 40-percent-less-fat potato chips, Brown and Pearl Prunetta reported finding them at Glazier’s, and Hierro confirmed that they’re available there in mesquite, barbecue and salt-and-vinegar flavors. Prunetta also found them at Smith’s at 10100 W. Tropicana Ave., while Joyce Gargan found them at Smith’s at 8180 Las Vegas Blvd. South (at Windmill Lane). …

For Sue Coffey, Hierro said Glazier’s also carries Smucker’s Boysenberry Syrup. …

And for Linda Rehn, who’s looking for a restaurant that serves breaded pork tenderloin sandwiches, Rick Schroder, a former resident of Indiana, pointed out that the Wienerschnitzel served at Cafe Berlin at 4850 W. Sunset Road and Bavarian Castle at 10890 S. Eastern Ave. are “pretty close.”
