The Great Vegas Gridiron Grill-Off BBQ and Tailgate Festival, which runs from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, will offer opportunities to taste award-winning barbecue and meet the grilling teams. The event, which is sponsored by the Kansas City Barbeque Society and has a purse of $50,000, will be at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center, which is across from the D Las Vegas. Tickets are on sale for Dessert Before Dinner, a benefit for the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 27 in the Palace Ballroom at Caesars Palace, 3570 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The event will include a competition in which chefs will create desserts using this year’s designated Girl Scout cookie, plus a cocktail reception, silent auction and entertainment by Terry Fator. All proceeds will go toward Girl Scout programs in Southern Nevada.
