Here’s what you missed at Rock in Rio’s pop weekend — PHOTOS

Two days before she ruled over the Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand, Taylor Swift kicked off the American leg of her 1989 World Tour on Friday at Rock in Rio USA, along with one of her favorite collaborators, Ed Sheeran.

After smooth sets by Joss Stone and John Legend, Saturday saw a swaggering Bruno Mars take a break from his hit-filled headlining set to work in snippets of Ginuwine’s “Pony” and R. Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix),” which threatened to transform the 40-acre City of Rock into the world’s largest open-air strip club.

For the festival’s return in 2017, Rock in Rio vice president Roberta Medina said she and her team will work from a list of performers suggested by this year’s attendees.

“It’s much more what people want than what we would like” to see, she said of who she wants to bring to Las Vegas. “But if I could say one name, for example, it would be Bruce Springsteen.”
