Killswitch Engage stoking flames at House of Blues
June 20, 2013 - 10:29 am
What would Satan sound like when expressing his sensitive side?
Killswitch Engage frontman Jesse Leach, most likely.
Alternating a pained growl suggestive of a dude getting his fingernails forcibly removed with stirring upper-register vocals and confessional lyrics, Leach tempers ferocity with a measure of vulnerability.
The original singer of this gold-selling metalcore troupe, Leach departed the band after 2002’s “Alive or Just Breathing” before returning for the group’s latest record, “Disarm the Descent,” released in April.
“I’d rather burn out than fade away,” Leach sings on the aptly titled “New Awakening,” stoking said flames with each breath.
