McDonald has the silvery voice — and hair — for holiday show
December 18, 2014 - 3:03 pm
No worries about what Michael McDonald will sing in a Christmas show.
No fears of him having to croon, “I keep forgettin’ not to shop anymore.”
Or, “Elves had a place in his life …”
Or, “You don’t have to prove to me that Santa’s real …”
Not at all. The soulful singer has three Christmas albums to draw from for “This Christmas — An Evening of Holiday &Hits” on Saturday at the Eastside Cannery.
Who knows, the voice of the pop-era Doobie Brothers may even throw in some of the usual favorites along with the selections he can pull from 2009’s “This Christmas,” 2005’s “Through the Many Winters” or 2001’s “A Christmas Album.”
In recent years, McDonald has teamed with fellow blue-eyed soul men Boz Skaggs and Donald Fagen, collectively billed as the Dukes of September in 2010 and 2012.
