Prizes-for-points offers dominate this week’s casinos promotions

Several casinos have jumped onto the holiday bandwagon (or sleigh) and are running prizes-for-points promos. All of them sound appealing, but please read the rules carefully (and check gift availability) before you start to play.

The Palms is running two point-for-prizes promotions through the end of the month. Same-day points earned on Monday, Wednesday and Friday qualify you for a variety of $5-$100 gift cards including Visa, Albertson’s, Whole Foods, Brendan Theatres, Lowe’s, Fry’s, Krispy Kreme, Walmart, Smiths, Home Depot, Best Buy, Southwest Airlines, and Macy’s, and you keep the points. On Sundays, same-day points can earn you cookware and luggage sets. Many video poker machines are excluded from these promotions.

Silverton players earning 2,000 one-day points ($2,000 coin-in; no point redemption required) on Fridays-Sundays in December receive a holiday trinket box, some of which contain up to $1,000 in free play. Anyone earning 500 points Mondays through Thursdays (through Dec. 29) gets a pink Snuggie (blanket with sleeves) while those earning 1,500 points get a Snuggie and a Touch N Brush (hands free toothpaste dispenser).

This Tuesday is Apple Pie Day at the Eastside Cannery. Players earning 199 points ($67 coin-in on slots, $100 coin-in on video poker; no point redemption required) can take home an apple pie for the holidays.

And today is the last day to earn gifts with points at Red Rock Resort. Items range from a sugar cookie bag for 800 one-day points ($800-$1,600 coin-in; no point redemption required) to a set of crystal champagne flutes for 15,000 one-day points.

The El Cortez is running a bonus point promotion for today and Dec. 25. Players earning 1,500 points ($1,500 coin-in; no point redemption required) receive a free box of See’s Candy. Those earning an additional 7,500 points get 25,000 bonus points, and earning another 10,000 will get you 50,000 bonus points.

Collecting Hard Rock Holiday Gift Points? All player who swipe their RockStar Club card today, Saturday or Sunday will receive 500 gift points. (Limit one swipe per day.) Vegas Golden Knights Christmas Display
In the Las Vegas Valley, the chances of getting a white Christmas are slim. But this year, you can have a “Knight” Christmas. A Henderson resident has a Christmas lights display that is synchronized to the entrance music for the Golden Knights. GG Misa’s Knights light show is played every 30 minutes from 5 to 10 nightly. His light show consists of two songs: Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and the entrance music, “Le Castle Vania,” from the movie “John Wick.” The display is located at 730 Bollons Island St. (Richard Brian/Las Vegas Reivew-Journal)
