Performer dreams of Rap Pack

Nas and Damian Marley will perform Saturday night at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas pool. So I called Nas on Tuesday, and he said, "We're in Amsterdam now -- super baked."

Amsterdam is one of the acclaimed rapper's favorite tour stops, with New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Paris and London.

What's the appeal of those places?

"Wine, weed, scenery, the people, the food, fashion, culture," he said very deliberately, and added an Amsterdam-elongated, "Yeahhh."

He loves Vegas and wouldn't mind doing a regular gig here.

"I think about how the Rat Pack ran it. Of course, that would be amazing if I could do something like that," he said.

But considering Nas' Amsterdam state of mind during our interview, he wasn't sure which musicians would fit in his Rap Pack.

"I can't decide right now," he said.

It was rude of me to harsh his buzz, but he was gracious, addressing some quick topics:

On the recent death of Nate Dogg: "Great loss. He'll be remembered as an amazing voice that really stood out from everything and represented our generation the best."

On his occasional acting career: "I love movies, man. I love acting. I never really thought doing music would give me enough time to (appear in movies). But today, I feel like doing it more."

(He said his film icons are Eddie Murphy, Robert De Niro, Cary Grant and James Cagney.)

And he wouldn't mind if women threw garments onstage: "Throw whatever they like -- panties, bras, whatever."
