Whistling Obama bugs Joan Rivers

Joan Rivers is "very apolitical," but there's something about President Barack Obama that annoys her.

"He's got that whistle. Every other word is 'ssssweet.' 'Ssss.' It drives me up the wall. Listen to him from now on. He whissstles jussst a little."

I've never noticed that, but on Thursday I found a Facebook page called, "Obama whistles when he says 's' and it's annoying!" The page has 111 followers.

Rivers -- performing stand-up at The Venetian tonight and Saturday -- told me about this "sss" business when we were talking a few months ago.

Off topic: She thinks it would be nice if gay actors who are in the closet could come out, already.

But she understands their concern they'll lose box office dollars because of homophobia.

"Some of them, it would hurt their careers terribly," she said.

"If everybody thought (a certain A-list actor) was gay, would women still flock to see his movies? I don't know," she said.

"So I get that they're scared of things like that, if you're a heartthrob. But otherwise, I don't think it means one damned thing anymore."

To homophobes, her message is: "Just look at your families: One in six" is gay, she said. "So calm down."
