Spears slated to open LAX nightclub

Despite her recent troubles, Britney Spears still is slated to host the grand opening of LAX nightclub Aug. 31 at the Luxor.

Sources at Pure Management Group confirmed last weekend that Spears will be back in town for the much-anticipated opening, which will be her first hosting appearance since her New Year's Eve gig at Pure inside Caesars Palace.

Spears has continued down a bumpy road recently, which includes a bizarre photo shoot with OK! magazine and an incident at Wynn Las Vegas last week that led to her bodyguard being cited by police on a battery charge from an altercation with two photographers trying to get photos of the former pop princess.

Another interesting angle to the whole LAX opening is how Spears and Christina Aguilera will interact with each other if Aguilera makes an appearance at the club.

Aguilera is one of a handful of celebrity investors, who also include Nick Lachey and actor Wilmer Valderrama.

Booty shaking coming to Rio: VooDoo Lounge will heat things up Thursday when the Go Go Extravaganza takes center stage at the venue located atop the Rio.

Patrons will get the chance to party with some of the hottest go-go dancers in Las Vegas, starting at 10 p.m. The event will be choreographed by Jonnis, who was a finalist on the show "So You Think You Can Dance."

Vanna Lace, burlesque superstar and Miss Nude World, will be featured as well. DJs L-1 and Joey Mazzola will provide the music from the turntables.

Lure gets new name, face lift: Wynn Las Vegas will join the excitement Labor Day weekend when the resort opens Blush in the spot formerly held by Lure ultralounge.

It will be interesting to see what Blush looks like and how it will do, considering that Lure was one of the sexiest lounges on the Vegas nightlife scene before it closed for the redesign. One can only expect Blush to be even saucier when the doors open to the public.

Chill out at the Palms: A chilly slice of excitement in the blazing August heat comes to Las Vegas today as the weekly "Ditch Friday" pool party at the Palms delivers its own little version of a winter wonderland.

The Palms is teaming up with Miller Brewing Company to help celebrate the launch of Miller Chill, the company's new chelada-style beer. This "snow day" will be highlighted with 25 tons of snow being brought in for the event as bikini-clad models and patrons go sledding down the mountains of snow into the pool.

The event runs from noon to 4 p.m. at the pool. All are welcome to attend, but you must be 21 years or older to go sledding.

Playmates heat up Rockhouse: Located at Imperial Palace, the Rockhouse bar and nightclub has been bringing in Playboy Playmates to host "Covergirl Wednesdays," giving it a nice bump in attendance on a typically quiet Wednesday night.

Former Playmates Tamara Witmer and Hiromi Oshimi have been the most recent bombshells to host at the Rockhouse, which has Playboy Playmates and cover girls booked solid for the next two months, according to sources at the venue.
