‘The Fan Awakens’ wins Vegas film fest

Perhaps you have heard of a little film series called "Star Wars?"

Trailers for the upcoming "Star Wars" resumption inspired filmmakers Eric Brugger and Jason Valle to create the seven-minute film, "The Fan Awakens," which on Tuesday won the 10th annual 48 Hour Film Project-Las Vegas competition at Sam's Town hotel.

You can watch the funny film, as it's down below.

Judges included me (you're welcome), broadcaster Dayna Roselli (she's popular), filmmaker Kelly Schwarze (such a smart judge), and actor Rob Belushi (yes, he's from the Belushi family you're thinking of, and he used to be in the terrific "Second City" show that should still be in action at the Flamingo but it's gone).

Local event producer Phil Faiss gave writer/directors 48 hours to make little movies containing a family heirloom, the line, "I've been thinking about this for a long time," plus a baker named Michael or Leanne Westphal (which are the names of the competition's overall producers).
