Walk, run or ride for charity this weekend

Autism Speaks will be the benefactor of the third annual Walk Now for Autism on Saturday and Ride Now Las Vegas on Sunday. Danny Gans' 12th annual Champions Run for Life on Saturday benefits the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Walkers will raise money to increase awareness of autism and fund research beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Star Nursery Field at Sam Boyd Stadium, 7000 E. Russell Road. To participate, call 323-333-6262.

On Sunday, motocross legend Carey Hart and custom motorcycle designer Jesse Rooke will lead bikers on a 75-mile ride through the streets of Las Vegas. The event also benefits Autism Speaks. Registration for Ride Now Las Vegas begins 8 a.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center, Tropicana Avenue and Swenson Street. The ride is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. For details, call 465-2570.

The autism benefit weekend concludes at 1 p.m. Sunday with an after-party at the Hard Rock Hotel pool, 4455 Paradise Road. Yellow Brick Road will entertain and there will be free food and prizes. Tickets are $35.

Saturday's Run for Life at The District at Green Valley Ranch, Las Vegas Beltway and Green Valley Parkway, begins with registration from 6 a.m. and a series of races starting at 7:30 a.m. Races include a one-mile fun run/walk; a 5K competitive and noncompetitive event, which features centipede, wheelchair and stroller divisions; and the Champions Run for Life. Centipede teams consist of 10 runners, and a prize will be awarded for best costume. For more information, call 735-8434.
