Las Vegas Downtown Diva makes Ogden home

After more than two years of leasing a home at The Ogden in downtown Las Vegas, Cheryl Blake pursued ownership when presented the opportunity. When she arrived in Vegas in 2012, just one rental remained available in the tower, which she took as a sign that The Ogden was where she was meant to be in this new city.

Known around The Ogden as the "Downtown Diva," Blake is an environmental consultant by day and a poker player by night. When her husband passed away, she decided it was time for a change and vibrant downtown Las Vegas was calling her name. The Spokane, Wash., transplant was drawn to the limitless poker venues, entertainment, dining spots and people-watching opportunities.

"Downtown Las Vegas really is the cross section of our country, with a little of every imaginable character present here," Blake said.

As a single woman living alone, The Ogden has given her a sense of security.

"My car is safely parked in a guarded garage; there are security guards on the premises at all times; there is a great police presence throughout the area and I truly feel very safe in my home and in the neighborhood," Blake said.

Blake's favorite property features are the numerous views of all Las Vegas Valley. From her bedroom, she can see the Las Vegas Strip.

"I fall asleep with the shades up so the last thing I see before drifting off is the glittering lights of the city."

From the rooftop pool and the sky deck, Blake gazes at panoramic views of the city; mountains, suburbia, city lights and all walks of life are visible.

"I was a little cautious about making the jump from renter to owner, but I am thrilled with my new home. It is absolutely perfect for me," Cheryl concluded.

Homes at The Ogden range from a one-bedroom, 815-square-foot residence for $229,000 to a three-bedroom plus den 2,044-square-foot home for $629,000. Residences feature a modern design aesthetic in keeping with the architecture and the lifestyle vibe, private balconies and expansive views of downtown Las Vegas, the Strip and the mountains that frame the valley.

The Ogden's single-story, open floor plans offer flex spaces that can serve as a home office, den or yoga room, extra bedrooms for accommodating multigenerational family and guests, and spacious windows that fill interiors with natural light.
