William Lyon stands behind homes with three-year warranty, service

For most of us, the decision to make a big-ticket purchase takes time. Time to research the most important features for your needs, to determine the most reliable product and to compare prices to find the best deal. Depending on the sense of urgency and what the item is, most of the time we compromise and settle for only one or two of those elements. Your home is likely to be the most important investment you will ever make, and it's the one purchase that should meet all three of those conditions.

"But it's not simply because of the financial investment, although for many, that's reason enough," said Kim Chitwood, director of marketing for William Lyon Homes. "It's because your home is your 'safe haven.' The place your family retires at the end of the day, that provides you with a sense of safety and well-being. That's why William Lyon is committed to creating homes we are proud to stand behind — for far longer than an ordinary builder. Our three-year warranty and service program — as with everything we do — was designed to improve our customers' experience and peace of mind. By exceeding industry standards up to two years longer than other builders, we've made it possible for buyers to get the best of all possible worlds: features, reliability and value.

"With the purchase of a William Lyon home, buyers already know they own one of the best-built homes in Nevada. Now they can also rely on receiving not only the highest quality of service when it's needed — but on a builder who takes a pro-active approach to keeping their homes operating and functioning properly."

The three steps to William Lyon Homes' three-year warranty and service program:

1. A 30-day care visit is scheduled a month after the original closing date. At this point, buyers have settled in and begun using the day-to-day features of the home. It's the perfect time for a service technician to make sure systems are all functioning properly, and to ensure the homeowner is comfortable with the operations of these new systems, too. An added plus: Owners also receive a complimentary touch up of move-in "nicks and dings."

2. Owners have access to 24/7 emergency service. In the event of an emergency (as outlined in the warranty information provided with each home), a William Lyon representative can be dispatched to provide assistance as needed. This is in addition to the builders' standard (non-emergency) customer services, which are provided to homeowners during normal hours of operation.

3. Annual visits are continued for a full three years, scheduled around the time of your closing anniversary. Designed to review any general warranty service items that may have come up during the year, these are also an excellent opportunity to provide ongoing maintenance tips for homeowners that can help to protect and extend the integrity of the home and its systems.

"The bottom line is that while our stringent quality control measures allow us to deliver the highest quality home to our buyers, we recognize that sometimes, things can happen despite all your best efforts," said Kim Chitwood. "So although we will never stop attempting to achieve 'perfection,' we will also always be there for our homeowners to make things right. That's as it should be because your home is there to shelter and protect the most important thing of all: Your family."
