Wine and cheese event slated for Dec. 10

Seasons Grocery has become a hub of activity for Lake Las Vegas residents and visitors to the master-planned community surrounding a 320-acre private lake with its daily and specialty items, food and wine tastings and events, coffee offerings and sandwich counter, and indoor and outdoor seating. For the holidays, the lakeside market in MonteLago Village also is hosting several themed activities this month.

On Dec. 10, The Perfect Pair, a free cheese and wine tasting, is planned for 4 to 7 p.m. A certified cheesemonger will share information about cheese selections from around the world with five varietals from Trinity Oaks. The winemaker will donate a planted tree for every bottle of its wine sold.

For baking lovers, Chef Flemming Pedersen, a certified executive pastry chef, will demonstrate how to decorate cookies and have samples to taste at the market. The free event is 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 15.

Chef Flemming of the famed Chef Flemming’s BakeShop in Henderson’s Water Street District provides Seasons Grocery’s artesan bread and pastries. He enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience as an International Culinary School at the Art Institute of Las Vegas instructor and from PBS’ “Chef’s Class.” A Danish baker, he has worked at several Las Vegas hotels including 16 years as the Golden Nugget’s executive pastry chef.

Additionally, Seasons Grocery is conducting a canned food drive for the nonprofit Three Square Community Food Bank through Dec. 22. Donate two or more cans and receive a coupon for 10 percent off any grocery purchase of $25 or more.

Other holiday activities in MonteLago Village include Santa Claus visits from noon to 2 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 17. A special Santa Cruise will sail today at 11 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 17. The hour-long cruise is $20 per person with holiday games, goodies and Santa photos.
