GANG AWARENESS WORKSHOP
The Southern Nevada Gang Task Force, Operation Lasting Peace and the city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services will host a youth gang awareness workshop for those ages 13 to 19. The class is designed specifically for those who are directly or indirectly involved in gang activity and will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Doolittle Community Center, 1950 N. NEWCOMERS CLUBS
Desert Newcomers, a social organization for women new to Las Vegas and Henderson, meets at 10 a.m. the last Thursday of the month at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway. The women also have a luncheon on the third Wednesday of every month (818-5641).

PARROT EDUCATION CLASS
The Best Friends Animal Society will offer a parrot education class at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at the Summerlin Library, 1771 Inner Circle Drive. The event is for people who own parrots, as well as those who are considering adopting a parrot. Reservations are required (243-2429).
THE TALL CLUB OF LAS VEGAS
