Clothing store adds spice to wardrobe with set-prices

When walking into Cilantro Rack, 9890 S. Maryland Parkway, customers feel like family.

The store’s manager, Sandy, who asked that her last name not be used, introduces herself to every new face with a handshake and greets each returning patron by name.

“Businesses used to cater to their customers,” she said. “They used to pump their gas and wash their windows, and I think it’s time we brought that kind of service back. Our customers are the bread and butter of our store, and they deserve good customer service.”

The boutique opened about two years ago and offers a variety of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and accessories. Owner Margarita Bonnin plans to open an additional location in the Summerlin area.

“We sell the clothing that Marshalls and T.J. Maxx has, but we have better prices,” Bonnin said. “We only buy good quality items at good deals, so we pass the savings to the customers.”

The store carries well-known brands, such as Dollhouse, JouJou, Ed Hardy, Enyce, Free Country and Pro Tag.

“There could be a jacket that Nordstrom is selling for $80, but we have it for $17.99,” Bonnin said. “People come, and they say, ‘How can it be? Another store is selling it for four times more.’ We don’t overprice things like department stores.”

Originally from Spain, Bonnin moved to Henderson from California about three years ago. As an experienced business owner, Bonnin emphasizes the store’s customer service and quality of merchandise.

“We treat our customers like friends, and we go out of our way to give good advice and help them put together outfits,” Bonnin said. “We make sure they find what they need and help them look and feel beautiful.”

Cilantro Rack receives new merchandise about every two weeks, which draws in the loyal customers, Sandy said.

“We have customers that know the minute we have new stock,” she said. “ They come in every 12 to 16 days because they know once those items are gone, they’re gone. There’s no reordering.”

Although the boutique sometimes is mistaken for a restaurant or spice store, Bonnin said the name is fitting.

“Cilantro is used to spice food and give flavor to the plate,” she said. “If you eat a taco without cilantro, it’s not the same. We’re here to spice up your closet and spice up your wardrobe.”

Bonnin plans to offer a discount or free gift to customers who bring in this article. For more information, visit cilantrorack.com or call 702-437-0405.
