Old Hollywood Redux
If in doubt this holiday party season, go glam. Not just any glam will do, though. You must go Old Hollywood glam. Don't bother turning the tube to Turner Classic Movies for inspiration for this look. Just drink in Eva Longoria. The petite actress channeled her inner Jane Russell for the "Bambi" awards in Germany recently and the results had us wondering why gentlemen ever preferred blondes in the first place.
Her dramatic strapless gown in merlot has leading lady written all over it. The exposed shoulders and fitted bodice exude sex appeal, but not in that over-the-top fleshy manner that starlets today gravitate toward.
Longoria keeps the '50s red carpet tone going with her fur shrug and coin purse. Both radiate old Hollywood cinema, but the purse in particular takes us back. Rather than tuck a clutch beneath her arm or grasp a Judith Leiber design, Longoria opted to dangle a coin purse from her fingers. And the leopard print pleasantly surprises us -- in a Mae West kind of way.
Lastly, the jewelry stays understated. Although the earrings and bracelet whisper their presence, notice nothing but diamonds adorn this look. Only the best, dahling.
