SHOW US YOUR PURSE
November 5, 2009 - 10:00 pm
• Who? Dr. Vivienne Velasco, optometrist and owner of iFocus Vision Center
• Location: iFocus Vision Center
• Handbag: Coach. I have no idea what model.
• Are handbags status symbols? To some people they are. Handbags should be functional for your lifestyle, not a huge neon sign that says you're high society or successful.
• What does this bag say about you? That I don't like to carry large purses.
• If someone found your bag and looked inside, what would they think of you? I am a no-nonsense, simple woman who has dry eyes and likes flavored lip gloss.
• What's the most important item you've ever carried in your bag? My ID. I get carded all the time in this town. Also, I like to take advantage of all the locals' discounts here.
• What's the strangest? A strapless bra. I was on a date wearing a dress that was probably too small for me and the bra made breathing difficult so I went to the bathroom, took it off, stuffed it in my purse and I don't think he even noticed. Now that I think about it, I don't know if that's a good thing. I hope that's not TMI.
• Tell us about the first special bag you owned. A little black Gucci bag that was given to me. It goes with everything.
• Knockoffs: Love 'em or hate 'em? Love 'em. You shouldn't care about the designer just about the style.
• Image is ... How other people perceive you just by looking at the way you carry yourself. Confidence, or lack thereof, is image and image is everything.
• What's in your bag? Dior sunglasses, Orbit gum, Wetstick fruit spritzer, Thera Tears, business card, wallet.
