Show Us Your Purse
• Who? Amanda Powell, marketing communications director, North Vista Hospital
• Location: North Vista Hospital
• Handbag: Dooney & Bourke Signature Series tote
• Are handbags status symbols? I think they can be, however, some of my favorite bags are from Target. Your style should be the primary focus, not just the name of a designer.
• What does this bag say about you? This bag says that I am always on the go and need to be able to make quick changes, like adding a little extra mascara for drinks after work.
• If someone found your bag and looked inside, what would they think about you? They would think I am feminine yet practical.
• What's the most important item you've carried in your bag? A photo of my mom.
• What's the strangest? Sticky spray to hold my bathing suit in place during the Miss Nevada pageant.
• Tell us about the first special bag you owned. For my high school graduation, a family friend gave me one of those Marilyn Monroe screen printed bags, sequins and all. I think I wore it for a year straight. Not OK.
• Knockoffs: Love 'em or hate 'em? I went through my knockoff phase and I will admit they are still sitting in my closet collecting dust. I just got inspired to do a little "spring cleaning" in August.
• Image is ... what you make of it. It should not be all-consuming. However, what you project out to the world should be an accurate reflection of who you are as a person, your own personal brand.
• What's in your bag? Debit card, Maybelline Colossal Volume Express mascara, "Funny People" movie ticket stub, business card holder, iPod with Kings of Leon on repeat, appointment book.
