Anthem, Castlight Health announce collaboration

Castlight Health and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield on Wednesday announced an agreement designed to help employers and their employees lower costs and improve outcomes.

The initial three-year term of the agreement will provide Anthem members in Nevada access to Castlight's cost and decision-support tools on Anthem.com.

Mike Murphy, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Nevada, said the agreement will give Anthem members more support by providing easy to understand health care cost and quality information.

The Castlight cost and quality transparency tool will be available free to all Anthem members starting next year. Members will be able to look up the cost for hip replacement surgery or a cesarean (C-section) delivery, Anthem spokeswoman Joyzelle Davis said.

For an additional cost to employer groups, other benefits will be available such as Castlight Dental and benefits that allow employers to set thresholds for certain common services with high price variability.
